Information collected involuntarily through our website is used for statistical purposes to measure the performance of the University’s website and content. Numerous strict data security measures are in place to prevent unauthorized access to this data, including but not limited to firewall networks, brute force protection, rate limiting, multi-factor authentication and password complexity and security assessments.
The data collected, whether voluntarily or involuntarily provided to SAU’s online platforms, is used exclusively to support the functions of our registration management system (Salesforce), website performance measurement (Google Analytics) , recruitment marketing platforms and the operation of various offices on campus.
The information obtained by the site is used only for the purpose indicated when collecting the information.
Under no circumstances does SAU sell personal information or use collected data outside of University recruiting, marketing and management purposes.

Privacy and FERPA
Southern Arkansas University is governed by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, as amended. Students are informed through the course calendar published each semester that they have the right to inspect and review their academic records; request an amendment to their records to ensure that they are not inaccurate and misleading or otherwise in violation of their privacy or other rights; to consent to the disclosure of personally identifiable information contained in their student records, except to the extent that the Act and regulation permit disclosure without consent; file a complaint with the US Department of Education regarding the school’s alleged failure to comply with legal requirements; and obtain a copy of the facility’s policy regarding how the facility meets the requirements of the Act. A copy of the policy can be obtained from the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs in Overstreet Hall, Room 114.
The Family Educational Rights and Protection of Privacy Act provides that directory information will be accessible to the general public. Directory information means information contained in a student’s school record that would not generally be considered harmful or an invasion of privacy if disclosed. It includes the student’s name, address, phone list, major field of study, participation in officially recognized sports, weight and height of members of sports teams, dates of attendance, degrees and awards received, as well as the most recent agency or educational institution attended. .
If a registered student does not wish to have yearbook information released to the general public, the student should notify the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs in Overstreet Hall, Room 114, no later than the end of the enrollment week of each semester or quarter that all or any part of the directory information shall not be disclosed without prior consent.
